What is a Air Conditioning: A Heating and Cooling System?

A heating and cooling system is a permanently installed unit that provides both warmth in winter and cooling in summer from a single wall-mounted appliance. Unlike portable air conditioning units, these systems are professionally fitted, properly sized for the room, and connected to the building through the external wall.

The unit works as a heat pump. In summer, it draws warm air from the room and exhausts the heat outside, returning cool air to the space. In winter, it draws warmth from the outside air and delivers it into the room. This is the same principle used by air-source heat pumps, which is why qualifying permanently installed systems currently benefit from 0% VAT on supply and installation in residential properties.

Because all the working components are contained within a single wall-mounted unit, there is no need for a large external compressor on the building facade. Two discreet circular openings through the external wall, each fitted with a flush external grille, are the only external evidence of the installation.

We assess the room, measure the space, consider the ceiling height, glazing area, sun exposure and insulation standard, and calculate the heat load before recommending a system.

We do not specify a unit without visiting the property first. Getting the sizing right matters. An undersized unit will not achieve comfort on the hottest or coldest days. An oversized unit will be inefficient and may not perform as expected.
