At Datel Electrical, supporting our local community is something we take seriously. Whether it is helping young people take their first steps into a trade, working alongside local businesses, or giving our time to community-based projects, we believe in doing our bit to make South Devon a better place to live and work.
Recently, we were proud to be involved in a project at Brunel School at Oldway, working alongside the talented local interior designer Demi Keenan Interiors to install a Festool extraction system as part of an improvement project at the school.
About Brunel School at Oldway
Brunel School is a specialist learning environment supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. The school focuses on creating safe, creative, and practical spaces that help students grow in confidence and develop valuable life skills.
Hands-on learning plays a big part in how Brunel engages its students, and their team has been working hard to update and improve several of their classroom environments.
This project forms part of their wider effort to enhance practical learning areas with high-quality equipment and safe, well-designed spaces. You can find out more about Brunel School here.
Working Alongside Demi Keenan Interiors
Demi Keenan Interiors is known locally for her thoughtful, creative approach to designing spaces that feel welcoming, functional, and inspiring. Her work ranges from residential interiors to community and educational environments, always with a focus on bringing out the best in the people who use those spaces.
For this project, Demi led the design and coordination work at Brunel School, ensuring the improvements matched the needs of the students and staff, combining aesthetics, practicality, and long-term durability.
We were delighted to support Demi on-site, helping bring her vision to life with safe and reliable electrical work.

Datel Electrical’s Role in the Project
Our apprentice George, who is training with us through South Devon College, assisted in installing the new Festool extraction system on-site. This equipment is an important addition to the school’s workshop space, helping improve safety, cleanliness, and air quality during practical learning sessions.
The work included:

Ensuring safe routing and securing of cables

Testing and checking the system to ensure everything ran smoothly

Working alongside Demi to integrate the equipment safely into the workshop layout
For George, this was a valuable opportunity to gain real hands-on experience, work with another local professional, and contribute to a meaningful community project.
For the school, it means having safe, modern equipment that supports student learning for years to come.
