New Fuse Board Installation Following EICR Inspection

EICR inspections, otherwise known as electrical inspection condition reports, are used to check the overall condition of a property’s electricity. In this case, a local landlord reached out to the team to conduct an EICR report, which when completed raised concerns over the property electrics and they were classed as “unsatisfactory”. This meant the customer had to replace its existing fuse board and wiring with a new distribution board in addition to rectification works to achieve a “satisfactory” certificate for the property.

It’s important to note that the landlord couldn’t start a new tenancy with new or existing tenants until the electricity had been sorted and had received a new EICR report with a “satisfactory” certificate.

To go about replacing the properties distribution board, the team had to complete some electrical investigation to see which wires needed to be redirected to the new fuse board from the old one. They then continued to:

• Cut off the power supply to the electrics
• Remove the old distribution board and work on removing the wiring that was going into it
• Install the new distribution board
• Ensure the electrical rewires to the new board were installed correctly
• Test the unit
• Complete the EICR inspection and certification with the new fuse board in place

After the project was completed, the landlord then had a property where the residents could feel safe knowing the electrics had been safely installed with a verified EICR certificate. The landlord also benefits from having a 6-year warranty from Datel Electrical on the completed project.
