Sometimes the answer has been yes. Sometimes it has been next week. And we have always known that is not good enough for the small jobs that are annoying people right now, today, and just need sorting.

So we built something around that question. From today, Datel Electrical is launching One and Done.

What is One and Done?

One and Done is our new same-day small electrical job service. It is exactly what it sounds like. You call us, click or WhatsApp. We let you know if we have an engineer in your area today. One visit. We fix the problem on the spot or give you a clear, honest quote for anything bigger. Job done.

There is no separate call-out fee. There is no waiting two weeks for a quoting appointment. There is no second visit just to tell you what the first visit will cost. One call. One engineer. One and Done.

How it Works

Call 01803 874074, send us a WhatsApp or use the booking form at datelelectrical.co.uk/one-and-done/. Tell us what the problem is and where you are. We will tell you honestly whether we can get to you that day and roughly when.

One of our qualified, DBS checked engineers arrives with a van stocked with parts and materials for most common small jobs. In the majority of cases, the job is done in a single visit. If it turns out to be something larger, we will explain exactly what is involved and give you a fixed quote before anything additional starts.

You are never committed to anything you have not agreed to. No surprises.

What Jobs Does it Cover?

Most everyday electrical problems and improvements. Sockets not working. Lights flickering. Fuse boards tripping. Outdoor sockets and garden lighting. Security lights. Smoke alarm fitting and replacement. Adding or moving a socket. Extractor fans. EV charger faults. Dodgy switches. Power to a garage or outbuilding. And anything else electrical that needs a qualified eye.

One and Done is designed for jobs under four hours. For anything larger, we quote on the spot during the visit.

The Pricing

The One and Done rate is £120 plus VAT for the first hour and £85 plus VAT for each hour after that. Parts are charged at cost and agreed with you before anything is fitted. That is the full picture. No hidden extras.

Where We Cover

One and Done currently covers ten towns across South Devon: Newton Abbot, Torquay, Paignton, Teignmouth, Dawlish, Brixham, Totnes, Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Salcombe. We run planned rounds across the area on weekdays and react to same-day calls where an engineer is already nearby.

If you are not on the list, call us anyway. Depending on the day and the job, we may still be able to reach you.

Why We Built It

The honest answer is that we kept hearing the same thing. Someone would call with a socket that had stopped working, or a light that had been flickering for three weeks, or a smoke alarm that had been beeping since last Tuesday. And the process of booking in, getting a quote, waiting for availability felt like too much for something that needed sorting now.

One and Done removes that friction. You should be able to get a qualified local electrician to your door the same day for a small job. That is not an unreasonable expectation. We have built a service to meet it.

Every One and Done visit is carried out by a member of the Datel Electrical team. That means fully qualified, ECA registered, DBS checked engineers who have been working across South Devon for years.
