How often do you need an EICR test?

It’s highly recommended that most properties have an EICR inspection completed at various points, depending on the age and function of the property, the industry or the age of the electrics for example:

Property Type	How Often Should They Get An ECIR?
Domestic Home	An EICR is recommended every ten years, or before you sell
Rental Home	Every five years or at the change of tenancy (whichever comes first)
Commercial Property	Every five years unless it has greater electrical demands which lead to quicker deterioration of electrical installations
Schools	Every five years, unless the regular six-month PAT testing, has raised any concerns
Hotels, Cafes, Restaurants	Every five years, or sooner depending on the overall usage of the electrics
