The Brief
A Plymouth care home needed reliable external security coverage across a busy site used daily by residents, staff, and visitors. Key risk areas, car parks, entrances, and access routes, had limited visibility, and management wanted the ability to monitor the site remotely without being tied to an on-site screen.

Our Approach
After reviewing the site layout and discussing the client’s priorities, we designed a system focused on full perimeter coverage while keeping the installation as neat and practical as possible.
We supplied and installed six 4K 8MP CCTV dome cameras around the external perimeter of the building. Cabling was installed in PVC containment, running from the basement through to the loft area to ensure a tidy and protected cable route throughout the property.
Camera placement was carefully planned to maximise visibility of key areas:
• Two cameras positioned at the front of the building to cover the main car park
• Two cameras installed along the side elevation to monitor the side car park and driveway entrance
• Two cameras positioned at the far end of the building to provide coverage across both the front and side elevations
This revised layout removed the need for cameras in internal corridors while still achieving the main objective of improving overall site security.
All footage is recorded via a 16 channel 4TB recording unit, securely housed in a locked cabinet within the basement. A 22 inch 4K monitor was also installed to allow on site viewing when required.
Because the system is fully accessible via a mobile app for live viewing and playback, the location of the recording equipment does not impact the usability of the system.
The Result
The care home now benefits from a clear, high resolution CCTV system covering the key external areas of the property. Staff can monitor activity around the building, review footage when needed and access the system remotely for added convenience.
The system was installed with minimal disruption to the day to day running of the care home, ensuring residents and staff could continue their routines without interruption.
