A homeowner in Newton Abbot contacted us to upgrade their existing electric heating. The property was fitted with older Dimplex XLS24N night storage heaters in the lounge and master bedroom, which were no longer providing the level of comfort or efficiency the customer needed.
They wanted a modern, more controllable solution that would improve heat retention, reduce wasted energy and work better with their daily routine.

Our Approach
Before carrying out any installation, our team assessed the existing heating setup and power supply to ensure the new heaters would perform as intended. We removed and safely disconnected the two existing night storage heaters from the lounge and master bedroom and prepared the areas for the new installations.
We installed two Dimplex Quantum QM150 high heat retention storage heaters, repositioning the isolators where required and installing a dedicated 24 hour power supply adjacent to each heater. This ensures the heaters can operate efficiently, providing responsive on demand heat throughout the day.
During the visit, we also identified that the lounge Quantum heater was not working efficiently due to the presence of another older heater in the same room. To resolve this, we reprogrammed the Quantum QM150 to operate as a slave unit and adjusted the output times to ensure balanced, efficient heat delivery.
All redundant heaters were removed and responsibly disposed of, leaving the home tidy and disruption kept to a minimum.
The Result
The customer now benefits from two modern, high performance storage heaters that offer improved control, better heat retention and increased comfort. The system is now correctly programmed to work as intended, avoiding unnecessary energy use and ensuring consistent heating throughout the home.
We also registered the new Dimplex Quantum heaters for the manufacturer’s 10 year warranty, giving the homeowner long term peace of mind.
